About Us

Bewl Sailing Association (BSA) represents the sailing interests of racers and cruisers at Bewl Water, the largest inland water in the South East at over 700 acres and set in beautiful countryside on the Kent / Sussex borders.

With generous slipways for easy launching and recovery plus changing rooms equipped with hot showers, we welcome  everyone who is interested in sailing, whatever their age, ability or experience.

All classes of boat are warmly invited to join us for racing on Sunday mornings. With seasoned sailors on hand to give advice on rigging and racing techniques, we are particularly keen to encourage families and youth sailors.

The "Mariners of Bewl" sail on Saturday mornings in the summer in craft which are specially adapted for the physically disabled, while the board sailors can be found on any windy day. The "Midweekers" group is ideal for those who would just like a relaxed sail on a Wednesday.

In addition to regular Sunday racing, there is a full programme of events throughout the year. The annual Bewl Blaster Open in early spring is followed by the Flying Fifteen Open and the Heron Open. Summer events include a sailing picnic, the RYA-sponsored Push the Boat Out taster day and Fun at Bewl (FAB) Week. The fundraising Bart's Bash is combined with the Wanderer Inland Championship in September, then we have the Laser Open and the London Windsurfing Association Open. The sailing year ends with the popular Boxing Day Bottle.

Teas, coffees and snacks can be purchased from the ‘pop up’ café and more substantial meals in the Boathouse Bistro.

As a formal entity, Bewl Sailing Association Ltd has insurance indemnity and is affiliated to the RYA. This is covered by our modest annual subscription of just £24.

You can find us at Bewlbridge Lane, Lamberhurst, Kent, TN3 8JH.
